Colonial Day is a national holiday of the Harvian Islands which celebrated the arrival of the first settlers and colonists on the 21th of August, 1854. All Samoans were, during the colonial era, forced to celebrate the arrival of their violent and cruel rulers, people such as the infamous Buck Leeburg of East-Leeburg, Lion Island. Lately, many voices, lead by the SP, are calling for the abolishment of the holiday. As some say it: "it should be made a day of national mourning".
